RICHNESS IS NOT HAVING MANY BELONGINGS; IT IS CONTENTMENT OF THE SOUL

RICHNESS IS NOT HAVING MANY BELONGINGS; IT IS CONTENTMENT OF THE SOUL

May 14, 2018

An entrepreneurial Muslim who is content with whatever Allah has given him will always remain rich, whether that be regarding his house, clothes, business or his family.

To be content means to happily accept Allah’s blessings on you and choosing to look beyond the imperfections.It means to let go off blindly chasing the shiny objects and start practising self-control and gratitude to Allah.

Here are 3 benefits of the contentment of the soul:

=====GIVES YOU TRANQUILITY=====

When we realise that this life and everything in it was never meant to be perfect, and that there is something greater Allah has prepared for the believers, it brings a lot of peace and tranquility to our souls.

“And He gave you of all that you asked for. If you count the blessings of Allah, never will you be able to count them.” [al-Qur’an 14:34]

>>> Understand that this life is temporal and that there is something better that awaits us.

==YOU APPRECIATE THE LITTLE THINGS==

When we look around and start enjoying the present moment, we will be able to really appreciate the little blessings Allah has given us.

“And among His Signs is that He sends the winds as glad tidings, giving you a taste of His Mercy (i.e. rain), and that the ships may sail at His Command, and that you may seek of His Bounty, in order that you may be thankful” [al-Qur’an 31:46]

>>> Appreciate your blessings and never let your desire for more spoil what you have right now.

===BOOSTS YOUR PRODUCTIVITY===

Many studies show that optimistic people are healthier and more productive. When we realise that Allah has something better and more enduring prepared for us, it makes us want to work harder to get it.

“And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [some] categories of them, the splendor of worldly life by which We test them. And the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring.” [al-Quran 20:131]

>>> Make Jannah your goal and work hard everyday to attain it.

These are a few benefits of contentment. When you begin to show gratitude to Allah for the little blessings that He has bestowed upon you, Allah promises to give you more.

'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' " [al-Qur’an 14:7]

May Allah bless our souls with contentment and grant us Jannatul firdaus.
