Entrepreneurial Lessons from the Life of Khadija

Entrepreneurial Lessons from the Life of Khadija

Apr 23, 2018

Khadija was born into a rich family of Quraysh. Like her father, she became a successful merchant herself. The number of caravans she owned for trade equaled the caravans of all the other traders. This is what lead to her title, The Princess of Quraysh.

She was also given the title The Pure One. From her great generosity, she used her wealth to feed and clothe the poor. She also assisted them to pay off their marriage portions.

Khadija employed others to trade on her behalf. One of her employees was no other than the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. By the blessings of Allah, he (saw) would come back with double the profits and displayed great characteristics of leadership, honesty and trustworthiness. This lead Khadija to propose and marry him (saw).

Since the very beginning of revelation, Khadija always supported Muhammad (saw) and worked hard to propagate the message of Islam.

When the Quraysh began their torture of those who submitted to Allah, she used her wealth to help them. Some of the ways she did this by was ransoming the Muslim slaves and feeding the community during the boycott.

At the time of her death, she placed all her wealth at the disposal of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and Islam.
